Blaze, nicknamed by the shelter, is a 1 1/2 year old Shepherd mix who was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan running out on the streets alone. With sadly no microchip or any owner known, he became available for adoption. He had an adoption hold soon after arriving at the shelter, but the day Rocky finds him marked 1 month in the shelter…so it’s clear the potential adoption never worked out. Based on the meet and greet notes, this boy did very well, as he was playful and good with the people and dogs outside alike, so we’re unsure why the adoption did not end up happening.
While at the shelter, Blaze has been dealing with colitis, or inflammation of his colon, and being fed sensitive stomach food by the staff. Colitis in dogs can be caused by many things including stress, and unfortunately despite his later friendly disposition, would not be surprising granted he is still unsure about his environment a month later. He was put on the dog walking program, and is noted by dog walkers as “friendly, energetic, well behaved, loving scratches, barking at other dogs but can work through it, knowing sit and shake, and is a bit mouthy, but also can work through this as well as he’s a smart dog.”
Rocky decides to sit with him due to the mixed signals he gives – he’s happy to see you one minute, and in the next, he looks anxious and unsure of himself. His tail even shows he’s teetering between happy and anxious, and his overall demeanor can be confusing or even intimidating to potential adopters, which is why Blaze needs our help! Blaze is available to adopt at Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar, CA. His ID is #801066. ******Please contact Animal Friends of the Valleys for out of state transport inquiries; out of state inquiries can be directed to Phil at the email facility@afv.org. Please note however that local adoption interest will be prioritized! Adoptions are first come, first serve. Typically, pets must be visited with in person prior to an adoption. Rocky Kanaka is not responsible for adoption processes and interested parties must go through the shelter for more details on adopting.***
