Mia is a 1 and a half year old Shepherd mix who has spent multiple weeks now at the Animal Friends of the Valleys shelter. When Rocky comes across her, it’s her 3rd week at the shelter, as she had arrived just before Thanksgiving. This girl was an owner turn in to Animal Control for likely behavioral issues. The previous owner described that they had found Mia a few months prior, named her, and said that Mia apparently taught her their own dogs how to jump the fence, so they had been having issues ever since with their dogs running at large. Mia came in with yeasty skin, a dirty coat, and dandruff. She was also growling and untrusting when she initially came in, and needed additional time, so the shelter had her in isolation for some time to decompress as they also worked with her. Now, Mia is in the public facing shelter area, and is waiting for a forever home.
