German Shepherd Rescued Moments Before Euthanasia Finds Hope and a New Name
When Clairo, a gentle German Shepherd, arrived at the shelter, her condition revealed a heartbreaking past. Lactating with enlarged nipples, she showed clear signs of having recently given birth. Rescuers believe she was used for backyard breeding, separated from her puppies, and cruelly abandoned.
Her story took a hopeful turn when FurryTail Endings Rescue stepped in. Moved by her sweet nature, they ensured she would leave the shelter behind and begin a new life filled with care and love.
Contracted Severe Case of Kennel Cough
Clairo endured a tragic past, but her struggles didn’t end there. At the shelter, the sweet girl fell ill, contracting a severe strain of kennel cough. Her condition was so critical that the shelter decided against spaying her, fearing the surgery could cause her demise.

Even though Clairo was one of the favorites among the shelter staff, it didn’t save her from ending up at the euthanasia list. The Southern California-based rescue shared her story on Instagram on the day she was going to be put down, asking for help from their followers. They had arranged a foster home ready to take her, but they needed funds to save the poor animal.
Free and Happy At Last
Thanks to the incredible support of the rescue’s social media community, the necessary funds were raised just in time. Thus, Clairo was saved moments before her scheduled euthanasia and freed from the shelter.
To mark a new beginning for the adorable canine, Clairo’s name has changed to Bambi. Additionally, the mama dog is now enjoying a wonderful life at her foster home, while recovering from sickness.
Bambi’s transporter commented under her video, “It was my honor to transport her to foster ❤️” Several other Instagrammers also expressed their delight over her survival story, with Erinn Rae writing, “She’s so gorgeous!!! Her prance on the way out gets me 🥹🥹🥹” Another user said, “Thank you for rescuing her!!! May this be the start of the good life for this amazing and resilient gal 🤍🤍🤍🎉”
