Recently, one Frenchie, Ace, left the internet “aawwing” endlessly for his heartwarming reaction when reuniting with his 8-week-old puppy.  Ace’s reaction was captured in a now-viral video, and if we’re being honest, we bet you’ll hit play too many times.  

A Father-Daughter Bond Like No Other

As revealed in the heartwarming TikTok video, Ace was separated from his newborn daughter, Polly, after her birth.  During this separation period, Ace has been living with his new family while Polly remained with her mother elsewhere. The beautiful part about this is that despite the separation, Ace did get a chance to bond with his newborn pup right after she was born. So when the opportunity arose for Ace’s family to take in Polly, they didn’t hesitate because they knew this would mean everything to Ace.

The video shows Ace’s owner walking into the house while carrying a small basket covered with a soft blanket from the top. Inside is Polly, but one can barely see her because of the blanket. However, it’s like Ace could sense what’s inside because he reacts the moment he sees the basket. The clip captures him rushing toward his owner as he jumps excitedly, as though trying to reach for the basket. There’s a high chance his powerful nose had already recognized his puppy’s scent even without seeing her. Ace’s excitement takes a much wilder turn when his owner places the basket on the floor and removes the blanket.

You can see Ace pacing around the basket before lowering his head gently inside it to give her baby a good sniff. At this point, it’s obvious his heart can’t contain the joy. And it’s not just in the way his body is wiggling, or how his ears have perked up; you can also hear him letting out sounds of excitement again and again. 

What makes this video even more beautiful to witness is how Ace repeatedly looks up at his owner, as though seeking reassurance that whatever he’s seeing is real. It’s comforting to know that finally, Ace now shares a forever home with the one thing his heart had been craving for weeks. 

Hearts Melt Online

We’re not surprised one bit that Ace’s reaction has everyone sobbing happy tears. 

“That little pacing shuffle melted me,” reads one comment.

“The most heartwarming video. Proud daddy, look at him,” another added.

“I’m crying,” a third person commented. 

Now, the rescue is determined to give her a second chance, but they can’t do it alone. They’re reaching out to the community for help to get Pelican the care she desperately needs.

A $10,000 Surgery Stands Between Pelican and Survival

Pelican has been suffering from severe ear infections that were left untreated for far too long. The damage is now so extensive that the inner parts of her ears need to be surgically removed. 

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue wants nothing more than to pull her from the shelter and give her the chance she deserves, but the surgery alone will cost around $10,000, far beyond what the rescue can afford on its own.

They’re now racing against time to raise enough funds to cover her medical care before it’s too late. Pelican has been placed on the shelter’s euthanasia list, meaning her life depends on how quickly help can arrive.

Despite everything she’s endured, Pelican remains unbelievably gentle and loving. She greets everyone with warmth and has so much affection still left to give. All she needs is one chance—and a community willing to help her get it.

Pelican’s case is urgent, but NorCal Bully Breed Rescue can’t commit to pulling her unless they have the funds to truly save her. Covering her $10,000 surgery would drain their resources, halt new intakes, and make it nearly impossible to cover medical bills for the other dogs already in their care, something the rescue says wouldn’t be fair to anyone involved.

They want nothing more than to help every dog that comes their way, especially those with urgent medical needs like Pelican. But the reality is, they can’t continue doing so without help. 

As much as they want to pull this sweet girl right now, they have to raise the necessary funds first. The rescue hopes people will understand and open their hearts to help give Pelican the chance she deserves.

A Victim of Greedy Breeding

The scars on Tazzy’s body and her swollen nipples tell a heartbreaking story of neglect and overbreeding. Roadogs Rescue believes she was likely exploited by a breeder, forced to produce blue-eyed merle Frenchie puppies worth thousands, all while being hidden away and mistreated.

When she was no longer profitable — either too sick to breed or delivering stillborn or unhealthy litters — she was heartlessly dumped at the shelter. Without Roadogs’ timely intervention, Tazzy’s fate would likely have ended in euthanasia.

Tazzy’s abnormal breathing is a clear sign of the serious health issues she faces — it’s far from how any dog should sound. According to Roadogs Rescue, she’ll need BOAS surgery, palate correction, and spaying to finally breathe and live comfortably.

Nicknamed the “King of Meltdown City,” Walter has gone viral for his theatrical tantrums and over-the-top howls that are equal parts hilarious and bewildering. One listen, and you’ll understand why this eccentric Frenchie has become an internet legend.

Why This Frenchie Throws Full-On Hissy Fits

Walter’s mom, Amber Martin, runs his wildly popular Instagram account, and recently, she gave his one million followers an inside look at what sets off his infamous meltdowns.

Amber revealed five triggers that make Walter scream like a banshee: impatience, boredom, annoyance, attention-seeking, and good old-fashioned hunger. And when all else fails? A bite of his favorite food is often the only thing that can soothe his dramatic soul, and save Amber’s ears in the process!

Walter’s latest post racked up over 49,000 likes and more than 7,000 comments—proving once again that his dramatic antics never fail to brighten people’s day. One fan, Lisa Whited, commented, “We need the best of Walter’s top 10 meltdowns ❤️🔥” while another joked, “Someone’s grandpa is screaming 😍.”

But Walter’s fame doesn’t stop at Instagram. His signature human-like howls have even caught the attention of global media, with Daily Mail UK calling his sounds “unique human-sounding howls.”

The First Meltdown

Amber was in her late 20s when she brought Walter home and instantly fell in love. But it didn’t take long for her to notice something unusual about her new Frenchie pup.

Back when Walter was still being potty trained, Amber once placed him in his crate and stepped away, only to hear what sounded like loud screams of pain. Panicked, she rushed back, worried he was hurt. But to her surprise, Walter was perfectly fine.

When she tried leaving again, the cries returned. That was the moment Amber first witnessed Walter’s signature meltdown and realized that she has a weird dog. This was unknowingly, the beginning of Walter’s journey to stardom. 

Is It Normal for Dogs to Scream Like Walter?

While barking, whining, and howling are par for the course with dogs, “screaming” like Walter does is definitely on the rare end of the spectrum. According to Rover.com, breeds like Shiba Inus and Huskies are known for their high-pitched screeches, often as a way of expressing excitement or demanding attention.

French Bulldogs, like Walter, aren’t far behind when it comes to dramatic flair. But for most dogs, a sudden scream can signal pain, fear, or anxiety. That’s why understanding the context—whether your dog is being left alone, wants food, or is genuinely distressed—is key.

In Walter’s case, his mom has figured out his unique vocal range is more personality than panic. And while the average pet parent might consider gentle training or enrichment toys to tone things down, for Walter, the screams are just part of his charm—and his path to stardom.

Walter’s howls are truly in a league of their own, and his viral fame proves it. Few dogs have ever captured the internet’s imagination quite like he has. Still, Walter isn’t the only dog whose unexpected vocal talents have left people baffled and amused.

A Pomeranian-Bichon Frise mix named Rocky became an online sensation for letting out screeches that are more eagle than canine. And then there’s Livvy, a Labrador-Golden Retriever puppy who was caught on video screaming into a pillow like a human going through a quarter-life crisis.

When I first saw her, she didn’t even have a kennel card. No name. No backstory. Just trembling in the corner like the walls were closing in. She was a French Bulldog—one of those dogs you expect to be bursting with personality, full of snorts and wiggles and attitude. But this one? She was trying to disappear. Later, I’d find out something that made her trembling all the more heartbreaking: she was a mama. A very recent mama. Her puppies were gone, and so was her sense of purpose.

A Name Fit for a Mama

We didn’t have a name for her, so Alexis and I each picked one: Maya and Mamma Mia. You get to help us decide. But either way, it felt important to honor her role as a mama—because even though her puppies were taken from her, she gave and gave. And now? It’s her turn to receive.

A Breed That’s Built to Bond

French Bulldogs are known for their big personalities in compact bodies. They’re companion dogs through and through—funny, loyal, often stubborn, but full of love. So to see one completely shut down like this—it hit me hard. That kind of fear in a breed designed for affection tells you something has gone terribly wrong.

When a Frenchie wants to shrink down and vanish, it’s not just fear—it’s heartbreak.

The Signs Were All There

She had no microchip, no ID, no collar. She might’ve been dumped. We don’t know the full story, but there are signs that suggest she may have been used for breeding. A visible C-section scar. Possibly in heat. And no one looking for her.

Now, I want to be clear—I don’t jump to conclusions lightly. But in rescue, you start to recognize patterns. Frenchies often can’t give birth naturally and require C-sections, and unfortunately, they’re a common target for backyard breeders because of their high demand and price tag. And when dogs like this are no longer “profitable,” they’re tossed aside.

Her Body Language Spoke Volumes

Her ears were the first thing I noticed. Even while shut down, they were flicking like tiny sonar dishes. Listening. Curious. Open. That’s when I knew—she hadn’t given up completely.

And when I offered her a treat? That little sniffer kicked into gear. Frenchies love treats, and that’s where I always start. Not with commands. Not with touch. But with something simple and positive.

Training tip: If you ever work with a fearful dog, especially one with a short snout like a Frenchie, offer treats from underhand, not overhand. Coming in from above can feel threatening. Sliding your hand in low and slow helps build trust.

The Scoop Heard Round the Kennel

We call it “The Scoop.” It’s when a dog finally trusts me enough to crawl into my lap and just be. And when she did that? She melted into me like a baby—curled up, soft, and still trembling, but no longer frozen.

That’s when I knew: we were making progress.

Touch Was New—But Not Unwelcome

I used treats to associate touch with something positive. A gentle cranial rub. A light paw hold. With each moment, she flinched less and leaned in more. She was learning that human hands didn’t have to mean discomfort or restraint. They could mean affection. Safety. Relief.

Learning moment: Many dogs who come from neglectful or exploitative environments have never been touched gently. Never had their ears scratched or their belly rubbed. Always ask for permission, and always pair touch with something positive.

Toys, for the First Time?

One of the most powerful moments came when we offered her toys. At first, she didn’t know what to do. It’s possible she’d never seen one before. But she sniffed, she licked, and eventually, she played. Just a little. That tiny moment—exploration, curiosity, even joy—was huge.

And then? A love letter arrived. With a donut-shaped toy and a blanket. We’d just been talking about how she deserved a soft donut dog bed, and in comes a toy donut. I don’t know how this community does it, but somehow, it’s like magic.

From Profit to Purpose

Dogs like Mia or Maya are often overlooked, even though they’re purebred, even though they’re Frenchies. Why? Because people worry they’re “damaged” or “used up.” But let me tell you—rescue dogs are some of the most loyal, loving companions you’ll ever meet.

They remember what it’s like to be discarded. And when you give them a second chance, they repay it tenfold.

Just 48 hours after their freedom walk, the rescue team discovered something devastating. Lorella is suffering from a painful, infected ingrown tail, while Corbert has such severe congenital deformities that he can barely walk. Both dogs are now fighting for comfort, care, and a chance to live. 

The Dark Side of Breeding for Looks

The rescue attributes Lorella and Corbert’s heartbreaking conditions to irresponsible, unethical breeding practices. According to them, many breeders prioritize appearance over health, resulting in puppies born with painful, preventable issues.

Lorella’s tail is completely ingrown, causing her ongoing pain and discomfort. Instead of providing her with proper veterinary care, her breeder ignored her suffering and continued to breed her.

Roadogs highlights Lorella’s case as a clear example of the dangers of breeding for extreme features. Frenchies are often bred for exaggerated traits like flat faces, deep skin folds, and curled tails, but these can come at a devastating cost to their health.

These Frenchies’ story have struck a chord with several TikTok users, with one of them commenting under the TikTok video, “Seeing these videos makes me cry. We as humans are truly awful. Road Dogs you’re amazing and seeing these videos under your care I know these dogs will know love and get proper care. Thank you.”

Rocky Kanaka, a pet rescue advocate, also weighed in, saying, “This is what happens when profit comes before compassion. Lorella and Corbert didn’t ask to be born into pain—they deserve love, not suffering. We need to do better for these dogs.”

Wade was a vibrant and spunky French Bulldog who, like so many pets, only wanted love, safety, and a forever home. But fate had other plans. His early life started out normally, but soon took a heartbreaking turn. Wade became ill with a rare disease called Valley Fever. Instead of receiving care and comfort from his family, he was abandoned at a shelter, left to face his condition alone—until a kind-hearted volunteer from Marley’s Mutts stepped in to give him a chance. Though Wade received life-saving treatment and experienced love from volunteers, his battle with Valley Fever left him with permanent challenges, including the loss of use of one leg and chronic eye irritation. Despite the odds, Wade’s spirit shone bright. While he never found an adoptive home before his passing, he knew kindness and care thanks to those who refused to give up on him. Wade’s legacy lives on in the lesson he leaves for us all: awareness of Valley Fever could save another dog’s life.

What Is Valley Fever in Dogs?

Valley Fever, medically known as coccidioidomycosis, is caused by inhaling spores of the fungus Coccidioides immitis. This microscopic fungus lives in dry, dusty environments, particularly in regions like Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, and parts of Utah. The spores lie dormant in the soil and become airborne when the ground is disturbed by wind, digging, or construction.

Dogs contract Valley Fever by inhaling these spores. The disease primarily starts in the lungs, leading to coughing, wheezing, fatigue, and decreased appetite. In most cases, healthy dogs can fight off the infection with minimal intervention. But for others—especially those with weakened immune systems—Valley Fever can spread beyond the lungs to joints, eyes, bones, and other organs, causing severe illness, chronic pain, and, in tragic cases like Wade’s, death.

How Is Valley Fever Treated?

If caught early, Valley Fever is treatable. Veterinarians typically prescribe antifungal medications for six to twelve months. In mild cases, dogs often bounce back after just a few weeks of treatment. However, disseminated Valley Fever—where the infection spreads beyond the lungs—requires longer-term or even lifelong medication.

In Wade’s case, the disease had advanced before he was given a fighting chance. His care involved extensive treatments, but the damage was done. His journey reminds us of the importance of early veterinary intervention.

Preventing Valley Fever in Dogs

While there’s no way to guarantee that your pup will not get valley fever, there are many ways to reduce the likelihood of the disease. Because the responsible fungus is a natural part of local soils, there is no way to reliably get rid of it. You can, however, reduce your pup’s exposure to the affected dirt.

Keep Pups Clean

One of the first lines of defense against valley fever is a good bath! Our canine companions may not always enjoy their bathtime, but these pampering sessions do far more than soften their coat and brighten their colors. For dogs in valley-fever-prone areas, keeping their fur and paws free of excessive dust and dirt reduces their exposure to the fungus.

Discourage Digging

As much as dogs love to dig, it’s not very healthy for them to do so in areas that contain the valley fever fungus. Try to keep their outdoor play space free of large, dusty patches and discourage your dogs from digging into the ground. This may be done by rerouting their behavior to a more desirable activity, or you can train them to follow commands such as “leave it”.

Think Green

The Tucson College of Medicine notes that one of the best ways to reduce your dog’s exposure to the fungus is to reduce the amount of dusty dirt in your yard. Planting grass and native plants helps the environment and prevents your pup from coming into contact with the fungus. If this isn’t possible, creating a deep layer of gravel or mulch works just as well!

Avoid High-Risk Areas
