When Love Prevails Amidst Tough Times
As revealed in the video posted by Pets Of The Homeless Australia, @pothaustralia, the dog, Maisie, and her long-time owner were doing okay until life became unbearably hard not so long ago.
Maisie’s owner could no longer afford a roof over his head, pushing him into homelessness. This situation forced him to live in his car, other times in a tent, with sweet Maisie. Though his life had fallen apart in such an unpredictable way, only one thing remained constant: Maisie’s love & loyalty.
Despite the unending struggles, Maisie remained by his side through it all, giving him the strength and comfort he needed to face each day.
The Tough Decision
Unfortunately, things took a much darker turn when Maisie’s owner fell terribly sick, making it harder for him to care for his precious dog. Painfully, he made the difficult decision to bring Maisie to the shelter — not to give her up to another family, but just so she could be cared for as he sought medical treatment and worked on rebuilding his life.
“Maisie’s human needed urgent medical treatment for his Cystic Fibrosis. He had no one to care for his precious girl. So, Maisie came into foster care at Pets Of The Homeless,” the shelter captioned on the video.
Thankfully, while at the shelter, Maisie received all the love she needed to keep going. Even though she quickly made amazing human friends, this sweet pup never stopped longing for her person.
It’s as though the universe was keeping tabs on Maisie’s lonely nights because after two months of waiting, the good news came: her owner was ready to come back for her. His health had gotten better, and he’d managed to bring his life back on track, including sorting out his housing woes. The only good thing missing in his life was his furry best friend, Maisie.
A Reunion Like No Other
Maisie’s reunion with her owner had everyone at the shelter fighting back tears. The heartwarming clip captures Maisie exploding in excitement the moment she recognizes her person walking through the door. The video shows her running straight into her owner’s arms, her tail wagging so hard that every inch of her body shakes.
Sweet Maisie can be seen pressing her whole wiggly body against her owner, who’s already dropped to his knees in tears. Throughout the video, Maisie showers her person with endless kisses while wrapping her paws tightly around his neck; you’d think she’s afraid he might disappear again.
