Bailey may only weigh 12 pounds, but this 2-year-old Miniature Dachshund has enough personality to fill a whole house. With his glossy black and tan coat and signature Doxie attitude, Bailey is equal parts goofball and loyal sidekick—and he’s on the hunt for a family who understands the wonderfully weird world of Dachshunds.

Like many Doxies, Bailey can be a little shy around new people. He needs time to warm up and figure out that you’re not a threat—but once he does, prepare to be fully claimed. His foster mom says that Bailey’s favorite move is grabbing your shirt as you walk by the couch, just to say, “Hey! You forgot to pet me.”

He’s also got that classic Dachshund streak of independence and sass. Bailey loves toys—but not gently. Chew toys are a must, and plushies don’t stand a chance. He’s active and loves to play chase with his dog friends, so a home with another playful pup is required.

Because Bailey can get a little mouthy when excited, he’s looking for a home without small children. He hasn’t been tested with cats. And when strangers come over, Bailey thinks it’s his job to protect the family. He needs calm introductions and an experienced dog-savvy home that can help him feel secure.
